Arriving in Savannah
Arriving in Savannah, the Hostess City of the South is easier than ever. Your landing location will depend upon what other parts of the country you may want to explore along with your trip to Savannah.
If you are limiting your travel to Savannah and Hilton Head Island, the Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport will be a good option.
If you are wanting to include parts of Florida in your explorations, you might consider flying into the Jacksonville International Airport. Jacksonville is about 140 miles south of Savannah.
Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport
Several major airlines fly through the Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport. This airport is about 15 minutes from downtown Savannah and 45 minutes from Hilton Head Island. There are several non-stop flights from locations in the easter and midwestern United States. Airlines serving this airport include:
Delta and Delta Connection
American Eagle
Continental Express
United Express
AirTran
Northwest Airlink
US Airways
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport
Another option is to fly into the Atlanta airport and either fly on to Savannah or hire a car and drive the 250 miles to Savannah. The Atlanta airport provides a lot more options in terms of domestic, regional and international airlines.
Jacksonville (FL)International Airport
Like the Atlanta airport, Jacksonville offers many more airline options than the Savannah airport. Jacksonville is about 140 miles south of Savannah, but the drive is all interstate along I-95. Unless you have other business in Jacksonville, the drive is almost not worth the airfare savings - there is not much to see.
Amtrak
Savannah is part of Amtrak's Silver Service/Palmetto route that flows from New York - DC - Charleston - Savannah - Jacksonville - Tampa - to Miami. Find out more about this Amtrak Route.
